Rules, policies & use agreement
Agreement version 2026-01. These terms apply to everyone who rents or uses the Squirrel Mummy space. This is a plain-language summary — the signed agreement provided at booking is the binding document.
This page is a template starting point and is not legal advice; have your own agreement reviewed by an attorney before use.
1. Booking & use of the space
The space is made available for the dates and hours agreed in your booking. Access outside those hours must be arranged in advance. Capacity limits, and any noise or curfew requirements, are part of your booking and must be followed.
2. Insurance requirements
Depending on the activity, we require the renter to carry event or general liability insurance that names the property owner as additional insured for the date(s) of use. This applies in particular to physical activities (for example yoga, fitness, or dance) and to events serving alcohol.
Proof of insurance (a certificate of insurance) must be provided before the event. We'll tell you the required coverage amount and collect the certificate during booking.
3. Payment & commercial terms
Your arrangement will be one of: a flat rental fee (per event, night, or hour); a percentage of door/ticket receipts; a vendor arrangement (food, drink, or merchandise); or a hybrid. Deposits, balances, and any revenue splits are set out in your booking.
4. Public vs. private events
Events may be public or private. For public events, we're happy to help promote them through our site, email, and text channels to drive attendance. Private events are not listed publicly.
5. Conduct & safety
- Keep exits clear and observe posted capacity at all times.
- No open flame or pyrotechnics without prior written approval.
- The renter is responsible for the conduct of their guests.
- Comply with all applicable laws, permits, and local ordinances.
6. Leaving the space (cleanup)
The space must be returned in the condition it was provided:
- Remove all equipment, décor, signage, and personal property.
- Bag and remove trash to the designated area; recycle where possible.
- Wipe down surfaces used for food or drink; report any spills or damage.
- Return furniture and fixtures to their original positions.
- Turn off lights and sound equipment; secure doors on the way out.
A cleaning/damage deposit may be withheld in whole or part for extra cleaning, damage, or overstay beyond the booked hours.
7. Cancellations
Cancellation and refund terms are set out in your booking. Please give as much notice as possible so we can offer the date to others.
8. Liability
The renter assumes responsibility for their event and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the property owner as detailed in the signed agreement.
